Border Shopping

Often I like to get in my old Ford Mustang and zoom down to the US border for a shopping trip. There's nothing like taking my special lady on a shopping adventure.

Well before we left this afternoon I thought I would do some research. Here is what I found:

The Canada–United States border is the international border between Canada and the United States. Officially known as the International Boundary, it is the longest common border in the world, and is unmilitarized. The terrestrial boundary (including small portions of maritime boundaries on the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic coasts as well as the Great Lakes) is 8,891 kilometres (5,522 mi) long, including 2,477 kilometres (1,539 mi) shared with Alaska.

Amazing isn't it, who would have thought that we live by the longest border in the world.

Because of the difference in currencies between Canada and the US - it's a great place to shop especially for Canadians as the Canadian dollar is so high right now - but I will tell you this right now, you might want to look up the border times before you go - because with the new crossing regulations it can be a pain in the you know what, and you might be waiting hours - behind other cars and trucks that want to get in.

Luckily I found a site that shows up to the minute border wait times. And if you have to sit and wait you might want to take this really funny video that I found on YouTube.

Still thinking about Hawaii

Hawaii was so much fun. There were these dancers on the beach who were really beautiful and it was nice to see the sunset. Like I said before Vancouver doesn't have much sun these days but I wish it did.

As I get older I would like to go on more vacations like this. I am 47 now and have worked as a Private Investigator my whole life. Having this background it makes it easy for me to find good real estate in other lands.

Here is a good entry on Hawaii from WikiPedia.

Do you think there are more shoppers going to the US now?

Up here in Canada the loony has really been going up lately and I was wondering if anyone thought that that would mean more shoppers are going to be going down to america to do more shopping.

I found some interesting articles on the net regarding this, but it was more about Cross Border Shoppers going online!

The article I found on Virtual shoppers.

I definately love to shop online, I even shop for holiday properties and other real estate. I love shopping online because it is so easy to do and you never have to leave your home.

You just wait and Canada Post delivers it straight to your house. It's awesome!

But could you imagine buying a house or car and having it delivered, probably way to much for the mail man to manage!

They would probably need an entire postal army to carry something like a house to someone.

Hi

Hello World,

I am a blogger from Vancouver, Canada and I like to blog about a variety of things. Real estate interests me as well a travel and other things.

I love to go on Vacations, I Just came back from Hawaii in fact - thank god too it couldn't have come at a better time as boy did I need some sun.

Vancouver in the winter can be let's say, a little rough. I mean it's pretty cloudy all the time and it get's to people sometimes. But boy wasn't going to Hawaii some real fun!

And like I said the sun couldn't have come at a better time.
